My First Article

Ulster Project Delaware
By: Greta *******
When school lets out, you’re glad. But by July, you have nothing to do. All of your friends are somewhere having fun while you’re just sitting there. But now, there is something for you to do, even in little Delaware.
UPD (Ulster Project Delaware) is an activity that brings Catholic and Protestant families together. Teenagers for Northern Ireland (the town of Portadown for 2009) come to Delaware for one month, July, and stay with a family that has a child their age. You have to be 14 years old at the youngest and 16 years old at the latest to do this project. You also have had to finished 9th grade.
To participate in Ulster Project Delaware, you have to:
-Be 14 years through 16 years old
-Have finished 9th grade
-Turned in an application
-And hope you get accepted for only 18 people get picked (9 boys and 9 girls)
After you turn in your application, everyone’s application is looked over. Then you and your family are interviewed. The leaders decide if you can participate.
My family has participated in this project for many years and everyone who has, has loved it. My uncle and aunt have done it and my two cousins have participated and they all wish they could do it again.
My cousin, Sean, just recently did UPD this past summer and he made so many friends. And the boy he got partnered with was his best friend. They had so much fun. My other cousin who participated also loved his partner. So did my aunt and uncle.
During this activity, you take many trips with the other kids. You go to amusement parks, water parks, have picnics, go swimming, and have parties (or get-togethers) almost every night. I’ve gone to some of these things and they are so much fun!

Hey Greta,

I think this is a really great idea for an article, and definetely unique. I would love to hear more details on your cousin's experiences, more personal.
And-just a suggestion-what if the begining was something like "Imagine you lived in Irelend, seeing the beautiful scenery everyday you woke up. Well, there's a way you can do that for a month". Whatever you think will catch the reader's intrest =).

I really like it!
